Built from Straw,Grounded in Heart.

The Last Straw is a thoughtfully crafted, solar-passive space built from natural wheat straw bales, hand-rendered with sand and lime. Its thick, rustic tallow walls, 90-year-old exposed saw-tooth trusses reclaimed from the historic Ardmona Cannery, and smooth polished concrete floors give the building a warm, organic, and wholesome character — one that feels alive while remaining beautifully energy-efficient.

Soft, earthy tones flow throughout the décor. Recycled timber furniture sits alongside retro Laminex tables and 60s-style chairs, with a charming functional record player from the 1970s adding a nostalgic touch.

Scattered lovingly around the venue are antique coffee-brewing treasures and a state-of-the-art commercial coffee roaster from Germany — blending the past and present of coffee culture. At the heart of it all, the open-style kitchen hums with energy, preparing exotic dishes made fresh to order — crafted with care, flavour, and soul.
